How we protect your dreams

A dream journal holds some of the most private writing a person does. Before launching Nyxwyn we carried out a formal privacy impact assessment: a structured look at what could go wrong with your data, how badly it could hurt you, and what we do about it. The law asks for one when an app handles sensitive information with new technology. We would have done it anyway. Here is what it found and what we promise.

We treat everything you write as sensitive

Dreams touch on health, relationships, sexuality and belief. We don't try to decide which entries are sensitive. We treat all of them as if they were, and we ask for your explicit agreement before storing anything.

Your journal stays in Europe and stays yours

AI only touches your dreams if you say so

You can leave, completely

Delete your account in Settings and your journal is erased from our database immediately and from our backups within 7 days. Cancelling your subscription does not delete anything; your journal stays readable and yours.

What we watch for, and what we do about it

What could go wrong What we do
Someone reads your journal who shouldn't Per-account locks tested on every change, keys kept off your phone and out of our code, alerts when your password or email changes, an independent security review before launch
The AI service keeps or leaks what it was sent Opt-in only, one dream at a time, no identifiers, a provider that doesn't train on it and deletes it within 30 days
Your journal is lost Managed daily backups; nothing is deleted except by you
Themes are taken as a diagnosis We say plainly that Nyxwyn is not health advice, and we never label a dream as meaning anything
A future feature uses your dreams in a new way We repeat this assessment and ask for your agreement first

If something ever goes wrong

If a security problem ever puts your data at risk, we will tell you directly and promptly, say what happened and what we are doing, and notify France's data-protection authority (CNIL) as the law requires.

Questions about any of this: [email protected]. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
